    Hi Jay and Trey.

I felt a little narcissistic listening to my own interview! But I had a lot of fun doing it. You guys made it fun w/out feeling stressed. I’m sorry for the the digital back ground noise that most likely came from my screwy internet problems.

The entire show was great! You once again produced great entertainent.

I got to be the first comment! yay!!

Looking forward to the next episode as always :)

    Best Regards

Ok just found out, the teamspeak show on web is bad idea, leaves spyware. Tisk tisk on teamspeak, but anyway After hearing this, maybe it’s no big help, lol

On a Side note Don’t drink and podcast, lol it messes with vowels lol

On Modifying the main Campaign, Apparently in the world of Fantasy stuff, Bioware probably took the modified premium Mods off because it’s close to buying their Premium mod and then giving them out for free to close to pirating for their comfort. The main campaign comes free with the box.

Also, J.R.R Tolkein’s decendants and George Lucus of Star Wars, Today seems like the only fantasy based companies that are Selfish and Don’t like anyone touching their stuff without their ok.

The DM Session sounds cool, Might want to consider Gathering for one of those early, For building characters (Allways helps to make sure there won’t be 8 clerics, lol, so time to ask “what are you playing, who wants to be the meat sheild?” etc. lol) Or work out a pregenerated Set of characters thet can be transfered to each player.

Neverwinter Nights has allways had good tech support, why everyone yells and Harps on them I am not sure. I’ve only razzed them when they made me feel my desire was lame lol and that only happened when it was in development when I asked about Exotic weapons availability in the single player module. But on a whole, The patches come fast from Obsidian and Bioware. For people that don’t beleive me try checking game forums like Guild 2 (AWSOME game, BAD Service), They released the game, and as usual it was buggy (Welcome to the new gameing millenia, lol) And it has been out for a couple months longer than NWN2. They made it to patch 1.02 in december, the game still is too buggy and they are allready talking about an expansion. lol Point being? NWN has Allways Had an affinity for fast patching and support of their Customers, past an present.

ok I made this commont so long I better Cut it short.

AWSOME Work as usual, Soon we’ll be seeing you guys on the grammys, ok Maybe not but HAY! lol

  4. Ashercon Says:

Yeah yeah, make fun of the way we talk… :)
Michele did awesome!!! Who knows maybe she will fill in for one of us if we are out one week!
    grammys LOL!!!

  5. Liso66 Says:

Drinking and podcasting? okay, who told? :p

Seriously. It was due to my internet problems. Jay and Trey were perectly clear. I apologize to all that had to hear the wierd noises due to my packet loss! I got all mid evil on my ISP yesterday and tomorrow they are replacing all our hardware and adding a booster signal :)

And Trey, thanks for the compliment. Ya’ll still beat milk-n-cookies any day!! Even double chocolate chip :p

    Hi,

I just recently started listening and I’m enjoying your work. Never thought a NWN2 podcast would be worth listening to, but it’s fun. :) I particularly enjoyed your interview with Michele–great story about the chat fiasco with Obsidian.

Regarding death rules: as I remember it, PnP D&D rules follow the rules we saw in Baldur’s Gate. Death is “permanent.” If you’re only killed by a little, e.g. less than -10 HP’s, companions can take a body back to a temple and have the priests there raise them. Or, of course, if you have a cleric in your party with a raise dead spell, that will work too. But if you are hit for more than 10 HP below zero, it’s often said that your character is beyond the help of most spells (though this is a rule that is often bent by DM’s).

Of course, authentic PnP rules don’t always mean fun in a video game. While I found NWN1’s rules to be rather artificial, I found the death rules in NWN2 to be a nice balance between being challenging (you can’t escape in the middle of combat and return completely healed from the temple) and being fun (no need to walk all the way back to town when a party member dies).

Listening to the podcast again I came to one conclusion.
Jay Tray you guys need a pencil and paper D&D or AD&D session. Actually the dying system in NWN 1 was closer to what it is like in D&D or AD&D still a lil bit easier. If one of your pals dies in Pencil and paper games you got to grab him sac him and carry him to the next temple to ressurect him. Very anoying and very like Baldurs Gate 1.

  8. cal1s Says:

    finally my account wors :)
thanks everyone for the podcast and the interview with our cheerleader lol :)

hmm somehow i have issues here posting n stuff

  10. Jay Smith Says:

Foxy, you are correct, neither of us have played pencil and paper D&D or AD&D. I have been reading the D&D 3.5 User Manual to bone up and nothing I’m sure would replace just getting out there and doing it. I will be looking around to see if we can find some locals who play so maybe we can sit in on a few.

    Very good advice.

  11. Jay Smith Says:

Cal1s, all comments are moderated. Sorry if this caused any confusion.

We get lots of spam. So we have the comments pre-view turned on.

  13. DaNippers Says:

Not picking on speach, I’ve Lived In California, USA for over 34 years, And Trust me, I can BARELY speak English, lol I have to keep updating my Dang Niptionary just to keep up with Understanding my neices/Nephews And My Lady’s Kids, TRUST Me when I say, lol Ya’ll did Better n Me On a GOOD DAY, lol

And Liso, The Sound was fine, Was Good To hear From someone In an Official Capacity period. lol As for sound quality, It coulda been worse (Can we say HAM radio?? “Breaker 1 9, breaker 1 9, you got yer ears own come back” lol) So the reception was fine, we Undertsood 99% of the convo and THAT is what counts, and EVRYONE had fun, doing it and Listening to it, So All said and Done It was AWSOME! lol

  14. halloweenfoxy Says:

Well. As the two of you never tried playing D&D AD&D no matter what version I like to suggest something.
Being familiar with the IRC I know it makes a great platform for pencil and paper games. Sure the reactions of the players are hard to see but still. I would love to offer up as DM for a session but sadly my P&P dicemaster knowledges do not inherit much more then the basic rules of D&D. So if you Tray and Jay would like to and if there is any DM willing to start a little advanture for a few people (4 or 5) I am willing to setup a channel in an IRC network and dig for some good dice script. Best way to learn a P&P RPG is to be thrown into the cold water. I am sure the DM (so he is found) would help making the characters.
And what considers times there is surely a way to get people together once a week.

  15. Eat2surf Says:

I’m a bit confused by halloweenfoxy’s last statement.. as a long time D&Der (I had the three booklets.. 1977?).. NWN1 done with the DM-client and DMFI’s tools is pretty close. with DMFI the emotes are pulled from the typed-in text so your PC laughs, bows, waves, kneels.. etc.. while talking.

And there is a dice bag in the game so players can “roll” dice for the DM if wanted/asked… no need for script.. or network.. just run the NWNServer and log into it.. e-mail the IP address and password.. and away goes your private game.. very easy.

    Try it.. you’ll like it..

    *clears throat* LONG LIVE NWN1

  16. Deathsource Says:

    Hey!!

Just want to say that it is Denmark in English and Danmark on Danish (The language we speak here in Denmark ;))

    I’m from Denmark my self.

Otherwise, great show you got here. Keep up the great job.

  17. halloweenfoxy Says:

    Hey there Eat2surf
Just to clear your confusion. I was not, I repeat not talking about playing NWN or NWN2 or Baldurs gate or Icewind Dale or Icewind Dale 2 or geez are there any others of the series I missed. My suggestion was playing D&D through IRC. You know grab the books (all 5 million ones) and all and then make characters and have fun. (I have aactually no clue if it is still this bazillion of books you need but I recall it back from the older versions that it was lots)

  18. DaNippers Says:

Halloweenfoxy, Just to help, To start a D&D Pen and Paper in todays world it’s the same as WAY back when Chainmail came out (For those that do not know, Chain mail, to my knowledge is the First Known PRINTING Of Gary Gygax’s game, Dungeons and Dragons, then Came the boxed set I started with, called D&D Basic etc. (In that printing elves, dwarves etc are actual Classes lol)) You “NEED” three books, Players Manual, Dungeon Masters Guide, And Monseters Manual. Add module For Module Lovers. And WHAM instant game in Under 100 Bucks and having An Imagination means BILLIONS of on the fly games For about 30 dollars a Book, or 60 bucks, lol In Halloweens defense, NEITHER Nwn1 or NWN2 Will EVER (Yes I said they will never EVER! lol) replace The feeling you get when You recall the Time You went to enter the Orcs layer only to be Accosted By Kobolds that despite their reputation Took out 3 Of you’re 6th level Friends and a 8th level Henchman OMG THEY KILLED KENNY! anyway. Pen and Paper puts all the luck in you’re Corner and If you’re lucky enough to see their faces, It’s Good to see the GM smile when After years of failed attempts You FINALLY do something he/she was NOT Expecting. I AM CASTING INVISABILITY ON THE EVIL MAGES ROBES!!! (Yes sir his robes dang it Not him, Now Let me See him Squeel like an Emberassed little school girl!!!!) lol But yes as I said, Three books are needed and An Imagination. :) Hope this helped

  19. Eat2surf Says:

Actually.. between Chainmail and the Basic set (the red one) was three booklets in a box.. these books were the start of the traditional 3 books needed for AD&D… PHB, DMG, MM… though.. to play a character you only need the PHB.. the DM needs the DMG & MM.

I’ve never played all the Icewinds or Baulders etc. .. I have played NWN1 with the DM-Client.. without any module.. just areas.. the DM creates the world’s occupants on the fly.. and does the conversation.. no clicking through options.. it is as close to PnP that I’ve seen.. but.. again.. I haven’t played those other games.. why? because I like D&D.. and D&D is a social game.. not single-player.. and not multi-player where people run everywhere and kill everything.. most people don’t even know that you can walk in NWN… well.. in a DMed game.. the DM can have all the town think you’re nuts because you’re runnin your character everywhere…. Run Forrest.. Run!! That man’s a runnin’ fool.

Anyway… everyone that plays these games should sit in on a PnP game sometime.. you don’t need the books or even dice.. the guys that are already playing have all that… you just need to show up and want to play… and possibly eat pizza.
