NWNP Episode 25 - Classes: The Bard
This week Jay, Trey, and Michele take us on a fun ride through Neverwinter Nights.
- NWN 2 Mod Making Contest Entries
- NWN 2 Mod Making Contest Announcement
- NWN Spotlight - Missing Dragon by makeham
- NWN 2 Mask of the Betrayer Topic of the Month: Rashemen
- Rashemen on WikiPedia , Faerie Lore of Rashemen on candlekeep
- Announce the Winners of the NWN Podcast Gallows Bird DM Event Contest Winners
- NWN Wiki and NWN 2 Wiki
We continue our Character Creation discussion with the Bard Class this week.
Speaking of input, we would love to get more community driven content. We thought the Mod Spotlight was a great idea for Module Developers to get the word out about what they are doing. But it hasn’t been as well received as hoped. So, the idea here is that anyone can submit a Mod Spotlight, heck we don’t care, submit an audio comment about your last DM session, tell a funny story about when you played on Dasaria, or a quest that went horribly bad. Or if you figured out the best way to play a Cleric through Bruce Nielson’s Light Reborn Module Night, lord knows Jay didn’t, share it.
We are also looking for people to help with gathering interviews, co-hosting from time to time, and web and graphics help. We want to make this podcast the best resource for information and fun about Neverwinter Night, but we need your help.
Until next week,
Get in Game and Level Up!

I bet I am first again *shifty look* How I know? The pixiechic is not responding in the thievesguild channel *cackles*
Question guys is Liso taking part in the gallows bird thingy?
May 4th, 2007 at 7:55 pm
HA! Right on schedule! Linked and loaded….
Hey..isn’t that supposed to be LOCKED and LOADED?
How goes the interview? *taps foot noisily* Your WarCry public awaits!
May 5th, 2007 at 8:54 am
Foxy,
We are working hard to make sure Liso makes a show at the event.

Hey Guys,
I just wanted to let you know there’s something wrong with the ITunes listing for episode 25. I downloaded and tried playing it, but cuts off about 14 minutes into the show.
My hectic schedule has finally lightened up, so I can look at recording that mod spotlight I promised you for Sanctum of the Archmage sometime next week.

Hey guys,
Just an update on that ITunes issue: it looks like it’s a file format problem that’s application-specific. I downloaded the file and tried to import it manually. ITunes, Quicktime, Audacity and most other audio programs think it’s only 14 minutes long, but Windows Media Player thinks it’s full length (about 50 minutes).
May 5th, 2007 at 11:40 am
Hi again guys,
Looks like I was too hasty with my previous comment. Although Windows Media Player shows the right length, it still cuts off at the same point (right about the end of the discussion of Rasheman). So it definitely looks liek there’s something buggy with the file.

Finally listened to the podcast (thanks Foxy, *mwah*). Loved the bloopers
I was going to enter the competition, only I live in the UK and figured you’d probably want to be playing when I’m wanting to sleep
Otherwise, good job as always
May 5th, 2007 at 7:44 pm
I am checking on the file. Andarian thanks for the heads up, I am not sure what happened but the full version has been uploaded. Although I am wondering how Pixie was able to hear the Bloopers…
If iTunes doesn’t update the file, you can download it directly and update it. Sorry about the confusion.
May 6th, 2007 at 1:31 am
she was able to hear the bloopers because I send her the file I downloaded right away when the podcast was up befure you took it down again. For some reason I haven’t gotten ep 24 there. Its been all right to me.
May 6th, 2007 at 2:00 am
Psst, *points you towards the forum* Foxy emailed it to a few of us…
May 6th, 2007 at 4:57 am
I re-downloaded the podcast this morning and everything seems fine now. Whatever the problem was, it’s fixed or gone away.
May 6th, 2007 at 6:45 am
There has been some crazy stuff happen with the podcast this week, first upload sounded great, and then checking the next morning it was playing episode 24 so I took it down, as halloweenfoxy stated. Re-rendered and then uploaded again, and the is where it got cut to a shortened version. Finally I think the correct file is uploaded.
I checked the calendar it was Friday the 13th, although it sure felt like it.
Thanks for the heads up and the help getting it sorted out.

Good show this week, guys! The section on the new stats for the NWN2 Bard was really interesting and informative. And the bloopers had me in stitches…
I was a little confused about the incident with the skeleton, though. Wasn’t it undead? Healing spells are actually supposed to hurt undead, and “cause wounds” spells are supposed to heal them. So if you accidentally cast a healing spell on a skeleton I would have thought that would have ended up being a good thing. Or did I misunderstand?
May 6th, 2007 at 6:51 pm
HA!! No I think I explained wrong. He was trying to heal himself but kept missing and clicking on the skeleton!
May 7th, 2007 at 1:19 am
Only in Pen and Paper healing spells hurt undead. In NWN you use transmutations of that spell to achieve the same.

Heya! I’ve started following the podcasts and they seem quite fun. There seems to be some problem with leaving a comment here, I don’t know why. Anyway, just for references, BBEG usually stands for “Big Bad Evil Guy” - a generic term for the chief antagonist (usually evil in most campaigns, I haven’t heard of a Big Nice Good Guy) of a campaign. Game on!

hey guys, normally i love this podcast, but i’m checking out @ the class discussions… anyone who has the book that came w/ the game knows this stuff
how about giving your opinions on how the class can best be used? ie, best spells to take, prestige classes, feats, etc… i’m sure you guys have played your fair share of NWN2 and have a lot of great ideas that none of us have thought of before
thanks,

I understand, check back with us, we are working on some new content and yet another format change. Thanks for the input, would you be interested in helping with a particular class or two? I have not played most of them so we could use some experts to help flush that out. Let me know if you are interested.
May 8th, 2007 at 6:19 pm
Well flaming gnome, all these episodes that include class discussions are our most popular ones! So we obviously are doing something a lot of people want to listen to. I lot people find it easy to listen to these while they work or in the car, instead of reading through the manual. But I do agree that we need to mix in some content for you seasoned veterans too, which some of the interviews hopfully have and will provide. I think this is something Jay is alluded to as well. So please keep listening!!

episode 25 was a little on the short side when I downloaded it from itunes, I love the show. I have been listening since episode 1. I was wondering if you could add creatures to NWN 2 what would it be? What are some of the improvement you would put in NWN 2. I would add weather and the creatures I would add are more dragons, beholders, owlbear, Treeant, horses, displacer beasts, more forest and farm animals. I would also want some placeables add to the game, NWN 2 was a little short in all those departments. Well anyway talk to you later
May 9th, 2007 at 6:27 am
Hello again
Don’t worry, you’re not losing a listener here guys, I still love the podcast
Just want to get the most out of a game that I truly enjoy! Perhaps I’ll email you some of my thoughts on the classes I’ve played, and perhaps other people could do so as well, maybe do a “here’s some really cool ideas for ____ class” segment?
May 10th, 2007 at 7:09 pm
That would be excellent Gnome! Yes please email me, trey@neverwinternightspodcast.com. I may have a idea for you on how you can participate. We are changing up the format of the show some and your knowledge may come in handy.
May 10th, 2007 at 7:13 pm
Peter, glad to hear from a long time listener!! That is an excellent topic. hopfully we can work that into our new format.
May 10th, 2007 at 9:49 pm
That bit about writing up ideas for playing characters and classes sounds like a good idea. I’m pretty good at mages and could offer some thoughts about that if you’d be interested.
May 13th, 2007 at 4:52 pm
Halloweenfoxy: actually, healing spells do damage undead in NWN1. I haven’t tested this in NWN2, but I’d be surprised if they changed this.
May 14th, 2007 at 3:27 pm
Yes Andarian please contact me at trey at neverwinternights.com and lets work out something.
