    Nice Chemistry. Good podcast.

There is something about getting a behind the scenes look at how dm’s operate. I don’t know what it is exactly, but there something about it. I understand the problem of people feeling you are out to get them. It’s a common reaction. One way, in Second God War, would be to have it be the gods that are helping, plaguing, the party. After all if someone is really role-playing there is no idea of a dm. Just some force that is, or they might feel is, directed against them. So next time someone expresses such a sentiment, play on it, magnify it, tell them yes, there is someone, something, out to get you. Increase their paranoia.

  7. Skunkeen Says:

the belief that DMs are out to get you I believe stems from alot of DMs out there not knowing how to combine story telling and the use of the client and tools. alot of PW’s often only accept new DMs on their teams from their player base. and a majority dont get the guidence from a experienced DM or a admin with time. droping monsters on the player from the client or DMs that go in character to show off and assult with their visual effects or changed appearences as being the extent of their DM knowledge has been very common in NWN.

ive encounted many dungeon masters who never heard of the DMFI or know that NWN is based off of Dungeons & Dragons and there are things you can do storywise to think outside of the NWN game mechanics usen simply the DMFI dice tools and story telling. making the possabilities of their imagination fully possable with NWN even if you have to turn the session into a text based one with limited visuals.

players are always going to have a degree of mistrust on Dungeon Masters no matter their experience for they represent the characters that get in your way be it villans or the uncopertive king that wont lift a finger to save their own kingdom. but in time youll gain a player base for yourself if you give the players good adventures and they will come to trust they will have fun gaming with you if they live or die.

im going to work out my schedule for next week and post up some links here to some more DMFM modules and also do a session to just discuss the DMFI tools and ill try to nab some more Neverwinter connections Dungeon Masters to share their experiences as well during them live.

sorry about posting stuff thats too long. feel free to remove the above. I tend to get long winded about DMing here. thanks for the show

  9. Liso66 Says:

No worries Skunk. It can stay :)

  10. Ashercon Says:

Kalia: YES !! We noticed!! Thanks!!

Skunk: You can come expound here all you want! Funny when I read your post I can hear your distinct voice. Thanks!!

  11. Carlo Says:

I very much enjoyed the “Desperate Measures” event, both the players and my fellow DM were outstanding and knew how to have fun. Glad people had a good time. Also got a lot out of the discussion afterwards, I always learn something talking to other NWN community members about their interests.

  12. Liso66 Says:

Thank you Kalia! I saw it as well., Nifty!

Trey!!! Welcome back! Catch a any fish? Did any big ones get away? :p

    Liso

  13. halloweenfoxy Says:

Welcome back trey. Oh and Carlo. Will I be able to have my character for desperate measures continued in a way?

  14. ffbj Says:

Yeah Skunk. I get what you are saying. You want to increase the pleasure people have in the game, and alleviate their fears, real or imagined, that you are out to get them. I think it is a noble and worthwhile effort to show people how to get the most out of the game. Sometimes you just have to make a decision in regards to how you interpret a particular action, or how npc’s might interpret it, and it sort of spoils it if people are whining or complaining about your treatment; but it is true that even with unfavorable decisions if the players are familiar with your overall style and generally fair rulings, they will be more likely to accept them. Good points. Sorry if I was a bit jaded in my comment.

Another great podcast. I am an old PnP player and think running the game multi player is the way to go. With a DM is even better. Unfortunately due to my personal schedule I have very little time to play a multi player or DMed game, but greatly appreciate hearing all about it.

  16. Ashercon Says:

*flops a fish onto the counter and starts to filet it
Yep we had a grand time!

When Carlos says “I imagine you (podcast) are an institution by now” I almost said, yeah we need to be IN an institution! ahahaha LOL!!!

  17. Liso66 Says:

You can not institutionalize me!! I was told I was ok now. They promised!! :p

“runs over and grabs Trey’s fish and feeds it to a stray cat” :D

  18. halloweenfoxy Says:

HEY! Dun waste it on stupid cats. Those stubborn things know how to catch their food. Feed it to the fox instead!

  19. Eat2surf Says:

Hey!! I’m back.. I know.. I know.. ya didn’t know I left.. but I did.. and I’m back.. good job puttin’ the show together, Michele… I’m amazed at how you imitated my voice to make those “bloopers.”… what program did you use??

  20. Eat2surf Says:

uh.. foxy.. are you saying that the fox can’t catch food?… are you saying that cats are smarter than fox… hmm.. stupid cats… hmmm..

  21. Wyrin Says:

Not had a chance to listen in to the podcast for the past 3-4 episodes - just done a big catch up all at once :/ ;)
    thanks guys - great work!

  22. Liso66 Says:
