Friday as Episode 65 was being downloaded by our many loyal listeners our hosting provider decided to lock our site. Why you may ask? Well they say that the download for episode 65 was causing high CPU and IO and that is not allowed in a shared hosting plan. Hmm, we have been doing this since October 2006 and it is now an issue? Anyway, they want want us to have a virtual private server, yeah, who wouldn’t for $59.99/month?

We have worked it out with the hosting company to get the site backup. We have created a Libsyn account and are in the process of moving our MP3 files there. Some episodes will me missing download files until the migration is complete. The Libsyn account will still cost us an extra $150.00 bucks a year but it is cheaper than the $59.99 per month they wanted for a VPS.

We interrupt the podcast schedule to bring to you this special news bulletin.

Atari and the Neverwinter Nights Podcast sent our very own, Michele aka Liso66, to Los Angeles for a special press event surrounding Mysteries of Westgate.

She interviewed Alan Miranda, CEO of Ossian Studios , and Russ aka Tiberius on the spot! Michele was teased by a few hours of playing MoW and tells us how she did. Check out new screen shots below.

We are happy she managed to survive a day in Beverly Hills and has returned to the fold to tell of it.

According to several sources Electronics Arts will buy VG Holding Corp for $620 M, the sale to be completed in January of 2008. What is the significance of this, well VG Holding Corp. owns BioWare Corp. the creator of our beloved Neverwinter Nights.

So, what does this mean for the Neverwinter Nights 1 Community? Will this be the end or the rebirth of Neverwinter Nights 1?

Event #5 - Reinforcements
The next podcast event will be one week from today, Saturday October 6, starting at 11:00 AM Central Time = 5:00 PM GMT (our usual time).

This event will be different from our prior sessions, as the stakes have gotten bigger for the entire city of Manerous. This just in from Maximus over at the Vault:

I spent the day at the Obsidian offices getting a presentation of the NWN2 expansion pack, Mask of the Betrayer, and one of the best pieces of news is that it’s GONE GOLD both in Europe and the US! The ship date for the game will be late September for Europe and Oct. 9th for North America. The game is looking really polished and frankly with over 25 hours of gameplay and all the content they’re delivering, it’s going way above the standard of what expansions usually deliver. The storyline with its twists of “eating souls” really should be a great gameplay experience.

I got a chance to also meet with the team from Rogue Dao Studios who are doing The Planescape Trilogy, a NWN2 custom mod, which was really incredible in scope and quality. Also at the event were the Hall of Fame creators from The Robinson Workshop, who have a great knowledge about everything in the toolset. It was also great to meet Kalia from NWN2 Warcry in person who was also covering the event with some of the more mainstream gaming sites. I know I owe you guys a writeup from E3 so I’ll make sure I do my best to cover the event properly but I wanted to share the news about MotB going gold before I head back home.

The game is finished and ready to hit the shelves, but Atari wants to ensure that they can do a simultaneous world-wide launch.
